The constitution of the North American Taiwan Studies Association was established at the first annual conference at Yale University in June 1994, and has been partly revised in later meetings. This constitution specifies the goals, organizational structures, and functions of the NATSA. According to NATSA's constitution, the president and the members of the Administrative Committee and the Program Committee are elected at every annual meeting, whose primary responsibility is to help prepare the conference in the following year. The president and other committee members compose the planning committees. All committee members participate as volunteers. Predominantly, committee members are Ph.D. students.

北美洲台灣研究學會簡介

隨著台灣近幾年政治、經濟、社會及文化上迅速的轉型，台灣研究已成為一個吸引愈來愈多台灣及海外學者的領域。隨著台灣研究領域的成長，一個能夠整合多樣化學術研究興趣的溝通管道也日漸重要。為了增進台灣及海外學者，從跨領域和比較的觀點進行對話，從而充實與提昇台灣研究的學術內涵，一群台灣留美的研究生和學者於1994 年草創了「北美洲台灣研究年會籌備委員會」。

這個籌備委員會的目標，是推動對台灣研究的認識，提昇台灣和北美學界的互動，以及增進從事台灣研究的研究生和學者之間的對話。因此，籌備委員會最重要的兩項使命就是舉辦年度的北美洲台灣研究年會以及出版年會論文集。北美洲台灣研究年會至今已邁向十多餘年，最近幾年的年會包括:

每屆於年會發表的高水準的論文作品均超過六十篇。這些論文含括廣泛的研究主題包括：一、台灣研究的論述與方法；二、台灣當代社會和文化變遷；三、經濟的發展與轉型；四、教育；五、原住民研究；六、文化研究；七、城鄉與環境研究；與八、公共政策等。

根據學會章程，籌委會成員於每屆年會上選出，其主要任務是為來年的大會作準備。所有委員均為無給職，他們是為了推動台灣研究而自願投入時間和精力的年輕學者和博士班學生。籌委員根據工作性質分作三個團：行政組(掌大會場地、財務、對外聯絡等籌備工作)、規畫組(掌大會稿件審查及行程安排)，以及監察組(掌會務及財務監督)。目前已有超過百位的成員參與過本會的活動，我們不定期將本會最近資訊發表在本會網站上 www.na-tsa.org 。
