The 2021 Taiwan Fellowship programme has opened for online applications. The deadline for applications will be 30 June 2020.
The Taiwan Fellowship was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to award foreign experts and scholars, who are interested in researching Taiwan (including Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, as well as its links with the Asia-Pacific and the world), cross-Strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region and sinology, the chance to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
The fellowship includes a stipend paid at the beginning of every month. Professors, associate professors, research fellows and associate research fellows are entitled to NT$ 60,000 while assistant professors, assistant research fellows and doctoral candidates are entitled to NT$ 50,000 (40 NTD = 1 GBP). Recipients are also entitled to one round-trip economy class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (the subsidy for travel will be decided in accordance with the relevant regulations).Accident insurance (plus medical insurance for accidental injuries) of up to NT$ 1 million is also provided.
The recipients of the fellowship will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2021. The duration of the programme is from 3 to 12 months and should be within the year 2021. The fellowship cannot extend to 2022 (i.e. to obtain a full 12 months the recipient must begin the fellowship in January 2021 and end by December of the same year).
