Abstract

During this session, the talk will give some background and insight into the current Taiwan job market for expats talent. We will look at some of the options for foreign talent in terms of industry and function, compare and contrast a few different Asian markets as well as share tips on how to get on the career ladder here and progress over time. As well as giving the macro overview of the job market, we will go into details about things like visa, salary, culture etc. Of course, there will be a chance to ask specific questions pertaining to your own situation and job search.

These will be explained in detail, and all related questions will be answered directly by officials from the TRO in the UK and past recipients.

  • Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies program 外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助 (by the National Central Library, Taiwan)

Scholarships

  • Study Huayu in Taiwan 華語文獎學金 (MOE Scholarship) – For those who want to enhance their Huayu (Chinese) ability, the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity both to learn the language and experience the culture.

  • Study degree programmes in Taiwan 臺灣獎學金 (MOE Scholarship) – The Taiwan Scholarship provides funding to those wishing to undertake an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Taiwan, covering degree programmes taught in English or in Mandarin.

  • Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship (TECS) – The scholarship aims to encourage school-to-school partnerships between Taiwanese and European institutions, whilst also attracting students from European countries, to study Mandarin in Taiwan and engage in exchange with their Taiwanese counterparts, and is also welcome for any student to apply.

  • Youth Mobility Scheme 青年度假打工計畫 – This scheme provides the opportunity for 1,000 British young people (aged between 18 and 30) to work and travel in Taiwan.
