On October 21st, the European Parliament approved with a large majority a non-binding resolution, urging a new investment deal between the EU and Taiwan including "essential cooperation on critical supplies like semiconductors" and demanding that the bloc's trade office in Taipei be officially upgraded as the "European Union office in Taiwan”.
In this virtual roundtable jointly organized by the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and the University of Helsinki, the speakers – Julie Chen (University of Helsinki), Linas Didvalis (Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania), Vida Macikenaite (International University of Japan), Marco Fumian and Federico Brusadelli (Naples “L’Orientale) – will discuss and analyze the new trajectories in the political, cultural, and economic exchanges between the EU and Taiwan, on the background of the Union’s increasingly conflictual relationship with Beijing.
The event takes place online (on Microsoft Teams), on 9 November 2021, at 11am Central European Time.
